How Do You Recognise a Faulty MacBook Trackpad?
The trackpad is the most heavily used part of the MacBook, and a fault in it is generally noticed not through a single symptom but through several symptoms occurring together. The Force Touch trackpad used on models after 2015 has no physical clicking mechanism; the surface is read by a pressure sensor and the Taptic Engine gives the sensation of a click by means of vibration. For this reason the complaint that it “does not click” is sometimes not mechanical but originates in the sensor or the software.
Common Trackpad Problems
- Clicks are not registered: On Force Touch models, a fault in the Taptic Engine or the pressure sensor; on older models, wear of the mechanical latch.
- The trackpad is raised at one corner: Almost always swollen battery is an indication of this. Before the trackpad is replaced, the battery must always be checked.
- The cursor moves on its own: Flex cable contact, moisture or liquid residue.
- Multi-touch gestures do not work: A crack in the surface or a break in the sensor line.
- The pressure setting keeps changing: A calibration fault; in most cases it can be corrected without replacing any part.

Why Altunakar?
Diagnosis First
If the fault is not in the trackpad, we do not sell you a part. We explain the result of the free diagnosis openly.
Battery Check Included
Where bulging is reported, the battery is always examined; the underlying cause is not overlooked.
The Correct Torque
